Genetics is the passing of traits from a parent to an offspring. The O’Leary’s are raising chickens along with the John’s family. In this case the O’Leary’s have all black chickens and the Johns have all white chickens. Eventually some chickens got out of the coop and had a brood of eggs that resulted into a dozen of blue chickens. Te question was what the cause of this happening was and it will be explained in the next paragraph.

During the breeding the all white chickens and the all black chickens happen to get together. The all white chickens had the Genotype Cw Cw and the all black chickens had the genotype Cb. since the chickens were different phenotypes the combination of both chicken resulted in a mixed colored chicken with a color in the middle. The reason why neither chicken resulted in either all black or all white is because neither of the colored chickens alleles were a blend of two genes, so when they are both breaded together they turn out to have a mixed offspring and this case a black and white chicken turning out with a blue chicken. When it’s seen on a punnett square it shows the outcome of the 2 developing offspring’s. In result 100% of the offspring’s are blue. Tin order for the farmers to get back their one color chickens they would have to have the same genotype of chickens get together to create the all black or all white family as before.

In conclusion the chickens had got together creating a new brood of chickens which is blue. The way to get back the same chickens with a division of blue chickens  included it would have to be determined by mating with the blue chickens and it would result in having about 25% to %50% of the new offspring being back to the original colors. In the genes of the chickens the offspring’s have probabilities of being a certain color when mixed with different genotypes.  And taking a look at the punnett square it results in 50%still being blue and 25% either being all black and all white and then as they continue to reproduce 25% of the same one color offspring it will then go back to all one color chicken family!
